FJR Center

The Pakistan American Cultural Center was established in 1959 to promote the needs and expectations of the students and for over 50 years it has served the education and cultural needs of Pakistan. I am associated with the PACC for the last 24 years. The professionalism and learning environment of PACC keeps me connected with it.

Language teaching at PACC is an enjoyable yet, quite often a pressure filled experience. Teachers try out various strategies and techniques to make the teaching and learning of English as a second language a worthwhile experience.

PACC has prescribed text books and the teachers draw a pattern that they follow throughout the term. One of the highlight of this program is on the four skills, Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing. This practice gives students a feel for how learning of English at PACC could be improved by using different approaches and methodology. For the students it is probably their first contact with ‘real world English’ exposing them to various activities and involving them as learners. Language is learnt rather than taught and keen students learn a little and use it a lot. There are all sorts of possible variations depending on what you want to achieve e.g. grammar games, picture talks etc. All those can go beyond what you are supposed to do and will give the student understanding that will help them to achieve their desired goal. Students from all walks of life enter the gate of PACC with expectation and confidence because PACC is the place to be.

Long live PACC!
